Hair Restoration
Using a Thulium 1927nm Laser and Off-The-Shelf Growth Factors for Hair Restoration.
Hair loss affects more than 100 million Americans. Treatments include oral and topical medications, PRP, and hair transplants. PRP injections have become extremely popular because they are considered “natural” with minimal side effects.
Unfortunately, there is huge variability amongst PRP devices leading to concentrations of 2-6x physiologic concentrations. There are inhibitory growth factors in PRP that limit the use of higher concentrations and it has been proposed that these GFs might be in higher concentrations in patients with hair loss. In addition, recent reports have shown that aspirin significantly negatively affects the platelet’s release of growth factors.
Kerafactor has concentrated the beneficial growth factors found in PRP by 50-2000%. The inhibitory growth factors are eliminated from Kerafactor as well. The growth factors are biomimetic and wrapped with a nanoliposome coating to assist in scalp penetration. To further enhance scalp absorption, LaseMD Ultra is used to create channels to enhance the Kerafactor by 5-7x.
A series of 6 treatments done in 2 week intervals is recommended. The entire procedure takes 10 minutes. A study has shown hair thickness improves an average of 77%. There is no discomfort during and after the procedure and absolutely no downtime.
KeraLase offers a unique treatment for hair loss with less pain, less treatment time, and more predictable results when compared to PRP hair treatments. A series of KeraLase is recommended every 2-4 weeks.
How we treat Hair Loss
Hair loss is a condition related to an increased, and often rapid, experience of hair falling out. Although it is natural and healthy to lose up to 100 strands of hair per day, this condition is related to losing an above average number of strands of hair.
Losing an average number of hair strands may not impact the appearance of your hair, but hair loss may lead to:
- Complete baldness
- Patches of baldness
- Thinning hair
Hair loss may impact both men and women, and while it may impact older individuals, it can impact almost anyone at any age.
Hair loss is a diverse condition that impacts different people for a variety of reasons. One of the most common causes is the natural aging process. As our bodies age and change, our hormone levels change. As our body produces more or less of important hormones, this may negatively impact growth process.
Other potential causes of hair loss may include:
- Autoimmune diseases
- Burns
- Chemotherapy
- Cosmetic habits (how hair is styled, treated, washed, etc.)
- Genetics
- Illnesses
- Medications
- Some drugs/pharmaceuticals
Hair loss may also be related to the health or functionality of hair follicles. If a hair follicle is permanently damage, there may be a lower chance of successfully achieving hair regrowth.
Each person will experience hair loss differently. While the cause of the condition may affect the impact it has on you, the condition generally cannot be stopped or prevented in full. However, it may be treated or effectively managed!
Just as there are different types of this condition, there are different treatment options. Potential treatments include:
- Oral medications
- Topical treatments
- …and more!
