What Does Ellacor Treat?

Ellacor is a treatment to improve laxity and skin texture in the mid and lower face. It is ideal for mild jowling, lip lines, marionette lines, and laxity along the jawline. Ellacor is only approved for skin types 1-4 and is not recommended for patients with a propensity for scarring.

Prior to treatment, a local anesthetic will be administered to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. The Ellacor device will then be placed on the skin to create micro-cores. A typical procedure will take 30 minutes or less to complete.

Ellacor Results and Recovery

Depending on the patient and treatment settings, recovery time may range from a few days to weeks. Mild redness and swelling may occur for the first few days. Our team will provide you with more information regarding recovery during your consultation.

For decades, punch biopsies have been used to remove a small portion of skin that looks suspicious for cancer. The small deficit that remains usually requires a suture to close the wound. Ellacor uses the same principle, but the deficit is ~0.5mm, small enough that it will heal on its own without visible scarring. The provider chooses the depth of the cores which is dependent on the patient’s skin thickness and the area of the face being treated. Also, the percent of the skin treated is variable and ranges from 5-8%, and that is dependent on the degree of correction needed. It is recommended to have 2-3 treatments for best results. At present, the areas cleared for treatment are from just below the bony cheek to the jawline, including the area above the lip, nasolabial folds, and chin. Research is being conducted on the neck and other areas of the body.
